I'm
interested in a lot of things actually. Below are only some of
the things I like. :) Ancient Strategy Boardgame -
Go Ever since watching the anime "Hikaru no Go", I
have been bitten by the Go bug and never looked back. It's a
strategy boardgame that originated from China. It's also known
as Wei Qui in China, Igo in Japan, or Baduk in Korea. I'm
so into the game now, I've start a club at my university. We
are called the "Go UWA"
club. This game truly takes a moment to learn, but a
lifetime to master. You can find out more about it here.
Computer Graphics
For some reason, I'm really into
anything that has good quality graphics. I really like all of
the CG movies that have come out, like "Toy Story" 1 & 2,
"Shrek", "Antz", "A Bug's Life", "Final Fantasy - The Spirits
Within" and a whole host of others.
I can stare at computer generated
images for hours on end. Here are some samples of images that I rendered
in "Bryce 3D" and "Vue d'Esprit". I'm not very good, but it's fun to play
with.

Video Games
I'm also into video games, ranging from
PC to any console. I first played on a computer when I was about 10 years
old. It was an apple that was put together by my father. It was absolutely
great. I often stayed up until 1am playing "Snake" or "Load Runner". Then
I got my first console, a "Megadrive". I've been into consoles ever since.
Some of my all time favourites include
- Final Fantasy Series (especially VI
to X)
- Metal Gear Solid 2
- Zelda (Ocarina or Time and Majora's
Mask)
- Citizen Kabuto
- Abe's Odyssey and Exodus
- Silent Scope 1 & 2
- Street Fighter series (not all of
them though...)
- Dead or Alive 1 & 2
- Bomberman
Here are some links to some good web sites
on games.
Karate
I like any form of martial arts. Tae Kwon
Do, Kung Fu, Kick boxing, you name it. I particularly like Karate and I
actually started learning Karate at the beginning of 2002. The dojo I attend
is part of the Shotokan Dojo, which is a well known Japanese style. Although
I have just started, I was somehow brave (or stupid) enough to enter I competition
while I was still a white belt. I had only been doing karate for one and
a half months. Of course I entered the novice division, but still, I was
the lowest belt there. I'm not sure how, but I managed to get medals in both
the events that I entered. :P

Fishing
Growing up in a coastal town does have its
affects on you. The most memorable moments in my life are often linked with
fishing. I spent quite a lot of time fishing, usually whenever I can. I
always had a great time whenever I go fishing with my dad and sometimes
my sisters are well.
The largest fish I have ever caught
whilst rock shore fishing is probably a 2.5kg groper. I was about 12 at
the time and it took some effort to get it onto the rocks. Once I moved
to Perth, I haven't really had many chances to go fishing. Perhaps one day,
I'll beat my record.
While on the note of rock shore fishing,
I should probably mention that you shouldn't go alone. It can be dangerous
as I found out in early 2001, where I went by myself. It was a rough day,
but I thought I could still catch a couple of fish before I headed home.
I did catch a fish, quite a good sized sweep. The only problem is that about
five minutes after, a huge wave headed my way. I did what was sensible, dropped
my hand reel and scrambled up to the highest point of the rock. It wasn't
high enough, and the wave almost reached my thigh. I lost most of my equipment
but I was lucky to be alive. Ironically, I still had the fish as it was in
a bucket full of water, which stabilized it during the wave. So, the moral
of the story is don't go rock shore fishing alone.
Update!:
Finally I had a chance to go fishing again and it was out to do some deep
sea fishing. It was March in 2003. It was very rough that day and I threw
up heaps.... When I say heaps, I mean 10-15 times. Ugh. Anyway, I managed
to actually fish for a total of 45 minutes and lo and behold - a Samson Fish
weighing 17.5Kg. :) Now that my largest fish record has been broken, I'll
be eager to challenge the seas once more.... in a year or so.
