As of June 2008 the BrailleChat client program is not available for download.
It is currently written in a non-portable programming language and
requires manual intervention to start the client.
Over the next few months it is being evaluated with end users who are competent Braille readers.
Then, when the functionality has been improved, the intent is to re-write it in Java so that it will be portable across different operating systems and hardware platforms. Additionally, this will allow it to be easier to install, start up and if required, to be removed.
