About Me

I obtained a Bachelor of Computer and Mathematical Sciences degree with double major in Computer Science and Information Technology Systems in 2002. In 2004, I completed Honours in Information Technology (Science) of the same degree. All my tertiary education were undertaken at the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering of The University of Western Australia. At current (2005), I am doing my postgraduate studying for PhD in the area of computer networking at the same department of the same University. I am also a member of the Mobile, Ad Hoc, and Sensor Networks group. My research supervisors are Associate Professor Amitava Datta and Dr. Rachel Cardell-Oliver.

Research

My research is focused on designing an efficient framework for Wireless Sensor Networks suitable for manufacturing environments. Since the conditions in manufacturing environments are much harsher, existing WSN frameworks will degrade in performance because they are not specifically designed to consider the interruption of surrounding environment with the medium used for the sensor nodes to communicate. For this reason, I explore the three aspects that contribute to the efficiency, reliability, and robustness of the WSN framework, mainly the medium access control, routing, and network management. This research involves the design of an energy-efficient framework that is able to adapt to the environment by avoiding transmissions when the medium is strident.
